Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Cambridge

1 High St, Teversham, Cambridge CB1 9AS, UK – 01223 295745

Good ambience. Reasonably priced. Tasty food. Service could be better. The staff kept talking loudly and in their own language which was rude. They could speak English but chose not to.

Best curry restaurant and takeaway in Cambridge. No delivery when ordering takeaway but well worth the journey to pick it up.chicken Jalfrezi outstanding as is their korma if you don't like spice. Onion bhaji are the biggest and crispest I have ever had. Cauliflower bhaji is cooked in a sauce, well flavoured but not spicy so suitable for all the family. Meat samosas amazing too. Staff super friendly and remember your name. Sunday buffet amazing and well priced Highly recommended.

The White Hart Country Inn

1 Balsham Rd, Fulbourn, Cambridge CB21 5BZ, UK – 01223 880264

Very nice ambience with wood styling that manages to be spacy, comfortable and intimate all at the same time. The staff were grand: both professional and friendly, with a pleasant informality that puts guests right at their ease. They were pleased to meet my dog and brought a bowl of water for her without my even asking, which is an instant extra star in my book. My only regret was that my food (the "pie of the day") was distinctly below the standard of everything else -- most of the meal seemed tasteless, mass-produced and/or slightly odd. That seemed to be an exception: my three companions all seemed to have perfectly fine meals. So I'll give the place another chance next time I'm passing by.

Only a quick visit this time, tasty food and excellent service. Thank you.

The Sea Tree

13-14, The Broadway, Mill Rd, Cambridge CB1 3AH, UK – 01223 414349

Probably the best fish and chips I’ve had in Cambridge. This place serves up delicious crispy battered fish and moreish chunky chips with a nod to sustainability and local sourcing. Student deals and gluten free options are also available. This is not your standard fish and chip shop, however, with alternative options including fish stew, seafood and a wide range of fresh fish. The smoked haddock fish cakes are a cut above your standard bland fish-shop fish cakes. The eat in options are also fantastic, and I’ve been back several times for their superb tuna steak burger with wasabi mayo. Portions are large and can be enjoyed with a glass of wine. Overall highly recommended for a delicious traditional or alternative fish supper, only thing that needs a bit of improvement is their mushy peas!

Peering in past it's understated exterior it's hard to determine whether it's a regular fish 'n' chip shop or if you're dealing with a high end seafood restaurant. Thankfully it's somewhere in the middle. You'd be hard pushed to find better cod, chips and mushy peas but you pay 15-20% more than you would at a regular chippy. Yet again, you get the luxury of table service and ordering beer or wine to wash it down with. A modern take on a British Classic.
