The Coffee House Cambridge

132 Wulfstan Way, Cambridge CB1 8QJ, UK – 07751 212543

We recently needed to cater for 25 guests at a family gathering.I had not come across this cafe before, but it was local and from what we could see, served nice food. We placed our order with only a couple of days to spare. the resulting mountain of sandwiches and a price that was extremely good value. I have no hesitation to recommend this establishment. The quality was excellent, the quantity huge. Places like this deserve all the support they can get. We will be back for breakfast soon

Fantastic little café. Reasonably priced, quality food. Comfortable, nice decor.

Relevant Record Cafe

260 Mill Rd, Cambridge CB1 3NF, UK – 01223 244684

What a great place! Visited with my wife and child about 3 weeks ago for a look around and ended up buying a couple of records and having a meal! The cafe upstairs is really nice with great coffee, a good selection of cakes and a small but very tasty choice of savouries. The pizzas were lovely. Downstairs the record store is fantastic. It is done out in a 60's-70's theme and has a huge selection of vinyl, all well laid out and at very good prices. Just as importantly, the man running the shop was very friendly and up for a chat about music and records. Love this place. We are from Dorset but when we are up in Cambridge again we will be sure to visit.

Fantastic choice in music the night we were there. Happy hour was a nice surprise between 5 and 7.30! Didn't eat but food smelt amazing. Staff very helpful especially to strangers to Cambridge. Would recommend a visit just a shame we missed board game night !

Cambridge Buffet Company

10 High St, Fulbourn, Cambridge CB21 5DH, UK – 01223 880090

Nice range of looking things. The house breakfasts looked good. Strawberry scone had nice flavour but really crumbly. Ok Coffee. No room for strollers/buggies/pushchairs- have to leave them outside. Very cramped inside due to tiny place and lots of tables and chairs. Will try again.

Always a pleasure visiting. Superb service and great value.

Rock

200 Cherry Hinton Rd, Cambridge CB1 7AW, UK – 01223 505005

Busy pub, pretty good food. Came here as part of a large reservation. Even knowing in advance they were going to have a lot of guests, they still ran out of quite a few menu items. My food was fine and the beer was 'beery'. Some people had to wait quite a long time for their food, but we got there early.

A nice, clean, standard pub with decent food, TV for sports. Good for groups to slowly take over an area, table-by-table. Some seating out front to watch the Cambridge traffic to rumble by on a summer evening.

The Queen Edith Public House

Wulfstan Way, Cambridge CB1 8QN, UK – 01223 244536

Lovely local real ales from Milton Brewery, and guest beers too. Friendly staff and reasonable value food. Well worth a visit - cycle friendly routes from all directions.

Nice place, good beer. Fish and chips top notch. Plenty of space inside and lots of benches in the front garden. Good location for a quiet evening drink. Will definitely return

Robin Hood

1 Fulbourn Rd, Cambridge CB1 9JL, UK – 01223 505026

First visit, friend took us for lunch, four of us, had the three course special menu, waited a while for our food but happy to if it's worth it. Starters nice, main course very nice, apple pie and custard delicious. All the food was hot and looked nice, plates were heated, thumbs up. The price including drinks was very reasonable, around £13 / 14 per head. Good atmosphere, nice layout, comfortable feeling, definitely will return when in the area and happily recommend. Server Vikki (or maybe Nikki) !! friendly, funny, efficient, good job. Parking. 👍👍👍👍

Very spacious local pub, good for the usual pub food and drinks. Family friendly with playground in the garden area. On a busy weekend it is recommended to book a table if you want to sit indoors. A nice pub in general, nothing special.

Chinese Takeaways

Cherry House

53 High St, Cambridge CB1 9HX, UK – 01223 246044

These are the best fish and chips I have tasted in the South-East. Large, fresh, crispy battered fish. Chips are always great. I had stopped eating fish and chips but now we have them quite often, thanks to Cherry House. My parents came from Newcastle and said the same. I have been sitting in the shop and heard other customers return specifically to tell the staff how amazing the fish and chips are. (Surprised by somebody's negative review below - are you sure you went to this shop? We go all the time and have literally NEVER had bad food!) Also their udon and salt and pepper prawn and squid dishes are good though sometimes portions of squid are too small.

Great food, I have had a takeaway from here a couple of times when working in Cambridge. Good prices, nice meal deals, fast service.

New Golden Buddha

212 Cherry Hinton Rd, Cambridge CB1 7AW, UK – 01223 249249

Special fried rice ok but sauce in house special chow mein not to my liking.

Expensive!

Indian Takeaways

Maharani Indian Takeaway

210 Cherry Hinton Rd, Cambridge CB1 7AW, UK – 01223 579279

My favourite classic English style Indian Takeaway! I have been getting a curry from this place on average once a month for the past five years. Before I go on you must understand that I love "proper or authentic Indian food". I have worked in India for several months and been to various parts of the country loving the food (it is one of the best cuisines of the world obviously). However, the English style Indian takeaway is not the same thing and it is a mistake to compare the two as they are totally different entities. Maharani offers huge portions of tasty, heavy and if you want spicy curries. Highlights for me are the Mazza chicken (with strong tandoori flavour) and they do the best palak (somtimes referred to as Sag) paneer. Honestly next time you fancy a takeaway curry or want to try something new, give this place a go! If you want authentic Indian food go to the "Rice Boat" or somewhere else but trust me you won't get a better "ruby murry" than a Makarani in Cambridge!

Good food, friendly service. We get meals from here regularly and have never had a bad experience. Always order from the pub next door and collect on our way home - works a treat. Love the chicken sagwalla. Worth noting the portions are quite large.

Sitar Tandoori Restaurant

43 High St, Cambridge CB1 9HX, UK – 01223 249955

I always have a good meal when I visit the Sitar. It my favourite place in Cherry Hinton. The service is always lovely when getting a takeaway or eating in. Food is high quaility and I've never been disappointed. Just yesterday I went to celebrate my 21st birthday and I was sent home with a bottle of wine and a smile. Amazing. I love it.

The food is fantastic, has been every time I've been there, and the staff are wonderful.

Kismet Tandoori

71 Catharine St, Cambridge CB1 3AW, UK – 01223 415525

The best Indian takeaway I've had in my time at Cambridge so far. This will definitely be my go-to place from now on.

Great Food and Good Value for Money..

Takeaway Food

Tamarind

1 High St, Teversham, Cambridge CB1 9AS, UK – 01223 295745

Good ambience. Reasonably priced. Tasty food. Service could be better. The staff kept talking loudly and in their own language which was rude. They could speak English but chose not to.

Best curry restaurant and takeaway in Cambridge. No delivery when ordering takeaway but well worth the journey to pick it up.chicken Jalfrezi outstanding as is their korma if you don't like spice. Onion bhaji are the biggest and crispest I have ever had. Cauliflower bhaji is cooked in a sauce, well flavoured but not spicy so suitable for all the family. Meat samosas amazing too. Staff super friendly and remember your name. Sunday buffet amazing and well priced Highly recommended.

Ohayo Sushi Bar

139 Mill Rd, Cambridge CB1 3AA, UK – 01223 415558

Very cheap and big portion of Bento set. Very highly recommended if you are looking for affordable and freshly prepared Japanese food or sushi. I ordered the prawn katsu, it was surprisingly good. Will definitely go back! The bento set comes with four spring rolls and salad, which are very delicious too.

Delicious sushi!!!! The best i ever had!!! Worth every penny

The Sea Tree

13-14, The Broadway, Mill Rd, Cambridge CB1 3AH, UK – 01223 414349

Probably the best fish and chips I’ve had in Cambridge. This place serves up delicious crispy battered fish and moreish chunky chips with a nod to sustainability and local sourcing. Student deals and gluten free options are also available. This is not your standard fish and chip shop, however, with alternative options including fish stew, seafood and a wide range of fresh fish. The smoked haddock fish cakes are a cut above your standard bland fish-shop fish cakes. The eat in options are also fantastic, and I’ve been back several times for their superb tuna steak burger with wasabi mayo. Portions are large and can be enjoyed with a glass of wine. Overall highly recommended for a delicious traditional or alternative fish supper, only thing that needs a bit of improvement is their mushy peas!

Peering in past it's understated exterior it's hard to determine whether it's a regular fish 'n' chip shop or if you're dealing with a high end seafood restaurant. Thankfully it's somewhere in the middle. You'd be hard pushed to find better cod, chips and mushy peas but you pay 15-20% more than you would at a regular chippy. Yet again, you get the luxury of table service and ordering beer or wine to wash it down with. A modern take on a British Classic.
